Honeycup, Zenobia pulverulenta (Bartram ex Willd.) Pollard, was originally named Andromeda pulverulenta

by William Bartram thus it is not surprising that is its similar to Florida hobblebush, Agarista populifolia (Lam.) W.S. Judd, which was also initially collected by William Bartram who call it Andromeda formosissima and it is also synonymous with Leucothoe poulifolia (Lam.) Dippel.  By extension honeycup is also similar to fetterbush, Leucothoe fontanesiana (Steud.) Sleumer, also known as highland doghobble, sweetbells, L. axillaris (Lam.) D. Don, also known as coastal doghobble, and Eubotrys racemosa (L.) Nutt., which is synonymous with L. racemosa (L.) A. Gray.  The similarity of these three genera results in them all being in the same family along with azaleas (Rhododendron L.) and blueberries (Vaccinium L.).
