Footprints in the Field

When time came for reflecting on my stewardship to the LORD a vision of a field with freshly plowed fallow ground appeared.  As I walked barefoot through the furrows while letting the cool soft soil press between my toes an occasional stone or thorn hidden by the broken ground would give a painful poke or prick to my sole.

Then looking back across the field as it grew ready for harvest there was nothing to gather at each place where the painful thorns or rocks were due to those areas being choked with briers or having no depth to the soil.  There were many other bare places in the field like this where no injury was felt from any rocks or thorns.

I questioned the LORD about why the field now seems so much more rocky and thorny than when I was walking along the furrows just after it was plowed.  Had I just forgotten how bad it really was at the time and only recalled the good times, or did His divine protection fail thus allowing me to suffer at those times?

Our Heavenly Father replied, “You need not to feel any pain from buried rocks or thorns where they no longer lay hidden in a hurtful way since having already been trod upon by on by my Only Begotten Son while He plowed the field for my servants to sow, but this only occurred if walking in the footprints He had made.”

Oh, how sparingly have I sown that field with praise and worship of the LORD and Savior while so easily overlooking and even doubting the boundless love of a friend like Christ Jesus even after He had gotten me through so many worldly cares despite all the times of failing to follow Him throughout my life.
