Fetterbush, Leucothoe fontanesiana, also know as highland doghobble, and sweetbells, L. racemosa, also known as coastal doghobble are evergreen shrubs with racemes of white flowers that are native to the Southeast respectively in the Appalachian Mountains and on the Coastal Plain.  They look exotic or even tropical with drooping branches, but would be a good choice of shrub in shady areas.  They are in the same family as azaleas (Rhododendron) and blueberries (Vaccinium).  Another related species is Florida hobblebush, Agarista populifolia, which is synonymous with L. populifolia, was initially collected by William Bartram under the name Andromeda formosissima.
