Installations done by Eden Keeper are low impact due to the exclusive use of hand tools rather than heavy equipment. This allows for installations of a smaller scope, which is possible due to the lack of overhead for equipment. The plants will also be of size that can be handled by a single person, but this is actually an advantage because smaller plants become established much quicker then start outgrowing larger plants where the initial cost increases exponentially with size.
Installation of a Full Design
Installation begins with the with an optional soil test, meanwhile the design is finalized. Because there is no disconnect between the design and installation there will not be a need for as many substitutions due to local nurseries not having some patented plants that virtually do not exist except for in the plant list of landscape design software. A layout of the design will be done with string showing the boundaries, which can be modified if desired. Once the layout is approved the prep work begins where the beds are prepared and planting holes dug. This follows the rule of thumb of digging a $50 hole for a $10 plant, but the actual cost will be most likely be considerably less. Now would be the time to get the plants so they can be installed as quickly as possible rather than sit in pots where the conditions may be less than idea. This could also be done in phases doing at least one load of plants a day depending location relative to the nursery. Mulch and if needed stakes will be installed while the stakes will later be removed once the plants have become established.
Remove and Replace
This type of installation is for when either an landscape is being replaced or simply if an existing plant dies. The former scenario can be even more complex than for a full design installation due to additional preparation required to remove the exiting and often overgrown plants. The later scenario will address issues that may have resulted in the original plants being lost.
Put in Place
This level of installation is just doing the manual labor required to properly install plants selected by and at locations specified by the client, but cautionary advice will be given for potential problems that could arise with the plants and/or placements.
