Calydorea coelestina (Bartram) Goldblatt & Henrich, Bartram's Ixia

     Sphenostigma coelestinum (Bartram) R.C. Foster

     This is the only native species in the genus since it was the only one in the genus Salpingostylis that along with three other genera were so taxonomically similar as to be monophyletic thus they were all put in the genus Calydorea Herbert.  The other species in the genera are found throughout much of Latin America.

A must have for a William Bartram themed garden.  Available at reputable nurseries, but rare in the wild.
