Rattan-vine, Berchemia scandens, is a relatively non-descript scrambling/climbing woody vine.  It can be used like rattan although the pieces may be relatively short.  Another common name, supple-jack, also alludes to the flexibility.  The most helpful key is to separate it from the rest of the vines is parallel secondary leaf veins similar to those on other species in the buckthorn family.  The fruits are uneatable black berries.  Most interactions with people result in rattan-vine being considered a weed mostly because they don’t know what it is, much less what it could be done with it.
